Hi Guys,
How was your week? For once my week was ok, it started off bad as there were constant miscommunications and plans slowly fell apart. It got better though toward the middle and end of it. On a happy note, I had a cannoli this week that tasted amazing. I recommend going to Portofino in Bermuda if you want an authentic tasting cannoli.
This week I took photos of Bermuda, mostly at Harbor nights. If you are not from Bermuda and have no idea what Harbor nights is let me tell you. Harbor nights happens every Wednesday, in Bermuda, during the summer from around 7-10pm in town on Front Street. During harbor nights many local vendors go down and pitch a tent to sell items to tourists (I took a picture of a vendor check below) During harbor nights there is food for sale, ice cream, lemonade, and desserts. It’s a night of fun and music and rich in culture.
I also took pictures of longtails. Longtails spend their whole life flying and only land on Bermuda to lay their eggs. While they are not Bermuda’s national bird they are important to Bermudian culture. During spring once the first long tail is spotted it is officially summer in Bermuda.
There are also some pictures of the beach that I took. In Bermuda, we have pink sand made from Parrot fish biting at the coral. The coral then gets broken down which is then washed up onto the shore. another interesting fact is that sand is parrot fish poop. As you can see in my home page photo our water is different shades of blue and one of the photos below. The water is different shades because of the light absorption. The lighter shade of blue is closer to the shallow water where as the dark blue is deep water. Sometimes the water will be a really dark shade of blue because there is a reef underneath it.
There are also a few pictures of Hamilton, also called town. There is a picture of some cool stairs and flowers. There is also a picture of the pillar in front of The Cabinet. Bermuda has a constitutional monarchy and a parliament system. And the pillar is in front of the cabinet.
I named this week Bermuda instead of Harbor nights or Bermudian culture because very soon I will be traveling a lot. I am going to England in two weeks (yay!) then I am going to Peru in October for a school trip, then more than likely New Jersey to visit my brother. This way I can focus on the country itself instead of having to focus on a theme such as light I can enjoy the country. I feel this way I can be happier while taking the photos and not have to stress if I can’t find something to shoot.
Anyway enough of my rambling, I hope you enjoy this week’s photos!
See you next week!
Carissa ?
