Week 15: Selective desaturation

Hi Guys,

How was your week? Mine was ok but once again stressful. I’m just counting down the days until I go to Peru. (Expect some amazing photos!!)

Now onto this week. This week I tried something different. Instead of focusing on the pictures, I focused more on the editing process. As all photographers will tell you, for every two minutes spent shooting it’s about 2 hours worth of editing. Editing is what can make or break a photo. It just so happens to be my favorite part of photography. I love editing because it’s just me and my laptop. I’m in control of the saturation, the hue, the exposure the contrast, everything. I get to be able to transform a picture from being dark and moody to be a work of art and something to be proud of.

Now for people who don’t take photography or don’t know about photography some of the words I just mentioned are probably gibberish. Let me explain them: saturation is the intensity of a hue; hue is another word for a specific color; exposure is the intensity of light or the amount of light and contrast is the separation between the darkest and lightest parts of an area. There you go,  some of the most basic terms of photography while editing.

The pictures below will have a before and after to them. Let me know in the comments below if you can tell what I did to them specifically. Also, let me know if you liked this different editing style and I should try more.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings. I hope you enjoy this week’s photos.

See you next week!
